One of the main things I would recommend any medical student do before they begin practicing is enroll in a neonatal resuscitation program. I have required my interns take this program before they can assist in my office. Basic resuscitation skills are extremely useful when working or being around children. With the proper resources and instruction you are taught how and when resuscitation should be performed. These classes are well taught and have given excellent intellect in the matter to my interns and myself.
